I currently have 3 watercolor palettes that I use regularly:
The large one is a Schmincke Horadam Aquarell box that came with 12 colors, and I’ve added a few more. It’s new, so I’ve only used it a few times. The box is a nice size, but rather heavy when full. Because it’s an expensive, large box, I hesitate to use it in public much.
The medium-sized box is a Winsor & Newton Compact Sketcher’s Box, which I love. Well, I love the size (2.5 x 5 inches) but not the paint, but can’t bring myself to throw out the colors. I’ll use them up eventually. I carry this box in my pen case that I use for journaling. It’s always close at hand.
The little box is one I made from an Altoids tin a while back. See https://www.lifeneedsart.com/blog/mini-watercolor-paint-palette/ . This one is in my purse every day and I use it all the time.
Don’t let the shiny lid fool you – it cleans up great. I just refilled it recently.
