I have been waiting to post photos of so many new paintings until I come up with just the perfect titles.
It bugs me to name things #1 or Untitled or Green because I believe in the value of a good title to lead the viewer through my thought process. But sometimes the words just can’t keep up with the images. Often, I have to look at a painting for a while before just the right title comes to mind.
So at this point, it seems silly to keep holding back images.
Look for new posts coming, some with titles and some without.
This painting is about 7 x 9 inches, made with acrylic paint and India Ink on paper.
This one is done using a “resist” technique – I painted the background, let it dry, applied masking fluid, let it dry, painted more, then removed the dried masking fluid.
Masking fluid is designed to cover something you want to protect while you put more paint on top. Then it can be removed, showing the underlying layers.
It’s mostly used with watercolor paint, but I like to use it with acrylic paint, too, as long as the paint is thinned quite a bit. (Thick paint will just cover up the masking fluid, and then, well, you’re stuck.)
Update: Finally framed this little gem, and am really happy with the results.
