2019 has been a year of firsts, including illustrating my first book!
Destination Hudson / Visitor Center published a book that tells the story about how the mouse came to be on the clocktower. They asked me to illustrate it!
Titled, “The Mouse on the Clock Tower”, the story follows the mouse and his family. I won’t give away details, but it has a little history, a little drama, and, well, you’ll just have to read it to see how it ends.
Although it’s intended for children, it makes a good souvenir for anyone who has lived here and enjoyed seeing the mouse on the clock tower at Christmas time.
I did 12 illustrations in watercolor and ink that were used in the book, including the cover art. It was a challenge to develop the characters and figure out how to bring them to life and give them personality. Here are some initial sketches:
The book is available at Destination Hudson or on their website. I have prints of many of the illustrations at my studio or in my Etsy shop. Here are a few of the illustrations used in the book.
The ornaments and prints of the illustrations used in the book are available at my studio and also online at https://lifeneedsart.etsy.com
